1'000'000 Rosaries

The Confraternity of the poor souls in purgatory wants to “collect” 1,000,000 rosary prayers for the poor souls from 6 January 2008 until 6 January 2009.

One million of rosaries appear „too much“ for some Catholics. According to the papal yearbook 2007 there are 1115 billion Catholics worldwide.

Out of those, only 2740 Catholics would have to say one rosary a day for a year for the poor souls, and we’d already have 1 million rosaries.

Every one of us has relatives or friends who have passed away. For these loved ones alone, isn’t it worth saying a rosary?

Why does the counting of the said rosaries start and end on the 6^th of January?

The confraternity of the poor souls in purgatory enters all participating faithful into a “Golden” Book. This book is to be presented as a gift to Baby Jesus on the 6^th of January 2009 by the Three Magi.

The participating faithful will be entered into a „prayer community“ by the confraternity.

I don’t have Internet access, how can I get to the current numbers?

You can check anytime by mail or by phone at the confraternity. The numbers will also be published in the magazine „Himmelsschlüssel und Fegefeuer“ („Heaven’s keys and purgatory).

Do I need to have the rosaries finished before sending in the amount?

No, you can write down the number of rosaries you intend to pray until Jan 6th, 2009, we place our trust into Our Blessed Mother.

How can I help „collect“1 million rosaries?

Easy! You can help by telling your friends and family. It would also be helpful if you ordered the application cards or this letter through us, or you could even copy and distribute them.

In which languages is this letter available in?

This letter is available in German, English, Albanian and Swiss-German.

Upon request, we can also supply different languages (soon availably: Portugal, French). They’re all available through the Internet or by mail order.
